To deepen cooperation in equipment technology in the petrochemical field and jointly promote the safe, reliable and efficient operation of key pump equipment, Shanghai Liancheng Group Qingdao Branch and CNOOC Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. held this technical exchange meeting. The meeting aimed to enable Shanghai Liancheng to accurately understand CNOOC’s core needs and pain points in design, project construction and operation through in-depth face-to-face communication, while showcasing Shanghai Liancheng’s technical strength and customized service capabilities in the field of high-end pumps to CNOOC, laying the foundation for the continued strategic cooperation between the two parties.
Working together for mutual benefit and building a new chapter in energy equipment safety.
Meeting venue
This exchange, focusing on the characteristics of CNOOC’s industry, explored the following three key areas:
01 Deep integration of products and technical solutions
1) Chemical pump solutions for harsh operating conditions: Shanghai Liancheng highlighted its material science achievements in corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and high temperature and pressure resistance (such as the application of duplex steel and Hastelloy), as well as pump body structure design and sealing technology for specific media (such as sulfur-containing crude oil, strong acid, and alkali) (including advanced mechanical seal solutions and leak-free pump technology) to ensure the reliability of equipment under long-term operation.
2) Fire pump system for safety assurance: Based on the national mandatory standard “GB 6245-2006 Fire Pumps”, this article provides a detailed interpretation of the compliance and standard-exceeding design of Shanghai Liancheng fire pump sets in terms of redundancy configuration, automatic start, diesel engine pump backup, and remote control, in order to meet the extreme fire safety requirements of offshore platforms and onshore petrochemical plants.
3) Intelligentization and Status Monitoring: This section introduces Shanghai Liancheng’s exploration in intelligent management of pump groups, including the use of sensors to achieve predictive maintenance, real-time monitoring of pump vibration, temperature, performance and other parameters, helping customers shift from “passive maintenance” to “proactive prevention” and reducing the risk of unplanned downtime.
02 Analysis and discussion of the core pain points of both parties
The core value of this exchange meeting lay in the fact that both parties frankly revealed their respective deep-seated challenges in the application and supply of high-end water pump equipment, and discussed targeted solutions. CNOOC Petrochemical Engineering’s pain points mainly focused on four aspects:
1) Equipment reliability is the paramount concern. Petrochemical plants require long-term, uninterrupted operation, and any unplanned shutdown can lead to significant safety risks and economic losses. Therefore, they have near-zero tolerance requirements for the ultimate quality and durability of water pumps, especially chemical pumps operating under harsh conditions and life-saving fire pumps.
2) Strict control over the entire life cycle cost. CNOOC not only focuses on the initial purchase price, but also values the energy consumption level, maintenance frequency, spare parts replacement cost, and ease of maintenance during subsequent operation. They urgently need suppliers to provide comprehensive cost optimization solutions that focus on long-term value.
3) The need for high compatibility and standardization of equipment with complex processes. As design institutes, they require pump equipment to perfectly match complex piping systems and process conditions (PID). At the same time, they also hope to promote the standardization of equipment selection to simplify supply chain management and reduce operation and maintenance complexity.
4) Ensuring supply chain security and rapid response capabilities. Faced with globally distributed engineering projects and emergencies, they require suppliers to have stable and reliable supply guarantees and efficient technical support and spare parts supply systems to cope with unexpected failures.
In response to the above pain points, Shanghai Liancheng proposed corresponding solutions during the exchange:
1) To address reliability challenges, Shanghai Liancheng not only showcased successful application cases and long-term operating data under similar harsh conditions, but also elaborated on its core advantages in materials science, structural design and precision manufacturing from the perspective of reliability engineering design.
2) Regarding cost control, Shanghai Liancheng proposed an optimized selection scheme based on overall efficiency, demonstrating how the energy savings brought by high-efficiency energy-saving products in long-term operation far exceed the initial investment, and introduced flexible spare parts supply and long-term service contract models to help customers smooth and reduce total cost of ownership.
3) To ensure design adaptability, Shanghai Liancheng has committed to providing in-depth early-stage technical support, including selection calculations and design optimization suggestions for specific projects, and expressed its willingness to actively participate in and support CNOOC’s equipment standardization efforts.
4) Regarding supply chain security, Shanghai Liancheng detailed its nationwide production bases, service network, and 24/7 rapid response mechanism to demonstrate its ability to become a trustworthy strategic partner of CNOOC.
03 The significance and achievements of communication and interaction
1) Valuable demand insights: We directly obtained “user feedback” from the top of the industry, providing invaluable first-hand information for product technology iteration and market strategy adjustment.
2) Enhance value chain position: By showcasing solution capabilities, it effectively escapes homogeneous competition and lays the market foundation for the transformation from “manufacturing” to “intelligent manufacturing + services”.
3) It embodies the close integration of “production, learning, research and application”, which is of positive significance for ensuring the safety and independent controllability of energy projects.
This technical exchange meeting, by showcasing comprehensive solution capabilities, aims to promote the transformation of the company from an equipment supplier to an equipment supplier + technology service provider. It is not just a simple product promotion, but also a collision of technologies, alignment of needs, and strategic synergy. It represents a “two-way journey” between the two parties in the field of high-end industrial equipment. Both parties agreed to establish a regular technical exchange mechanism to further solidify their positions in the industrial value chain.
